Fuel
Final Design: The final design clearly displays the available products, allows users to place, edit and submit orders.
Reflection: This was my first time developing a mobile app using Figma - I learned A LOT! New technology, understanding the depth that designers go to at each phase of the design process to truly understand the problem and the user.
Mobile food truck app
Project challenge: To create a mobile app for a school-run food truck
Role: Designer
Target Audience: High school students
Research Conducted: User interviews, competitive audits, Lo-fi & Hi-fi user experience trials.
Initial Concepts: Focused more on the display of products but after user experience tests, the focus shifted to the ordering and purchasing of items.
Kids Connect
Project challenge: Kids Connect mobile app strives to help children regulate their moods, develop self awareness and build their self esteem. This is an ongoing, collaborative project with a social worker who works closely with children and their families.
Role: Designer
Target Audience: Children ages 6 - 10
Research Conducted: Behavioral studies, regulation techniques for children, parenting strategies as outlined by Connective Parenting, competitive audits, lo-fi user experience trials.
Initial Concepts: Design focused primarily on self-awareness and self-regulation techniques for children. After showing my co-worker preliminary sketches, the design was expanded to provide additional activities for reflection and amusement.
Current Design: The current design offers users a platform that builds self-awareness then provides options depending on how the user is feeling. There are activities that will help with emotional regulation, an area for reflection and a space for simple games.
Reflection: This is an ambitious design as it has several different areas of engagement. We need to conduct more extensive lo-fi usability studies with users in order to determine if what we have is too much.
